Malawi’s agriculture ministry has asked former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson to be the country’s cannabis ambassador.
Minister Lobin Lowe stated that the legalization of cannabis in Malawi last year created opportunities both locally and internationally.
According to the ministry, the deal with Tyson was facilitated by the United States Cannabis Association.
“Malawi may not be able to go it alone because the industry is complex and requires collaboration.” As a result, I would like to appoint you as Malawi’s Cannabis Branch ambassador, Mr Mike Tyson,” Mr Lowe wrote.
Tyson is also a business owner who has invested in a cannabis farm.
Tyson was supposed to visit Malawi last week, according to local media, but his trip was canceled.
Malawian cannabis, particularly the Malawi Gold strain, is regarded as one of the best by recreational smokers.
