W/R: Residents will be chased down with Covid-19 vaccines.

Only 2% of the region’s eligible population of 1,468,319 people have gotten their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, according to Western Region Deputy Director of Public Health Dr. Gifty Amugi.

“We have 1,468,318 persons in the region who need to be vaccinated thus far. The eligible population is what we refer to them as.

“As of right now, just 14.7 percent of people have received at least one dosage of the vaccination, which requires two shots. Only 2.7 percent of those who are eligible have received two vaccinations or are fully vaccinated.”

The present results, according to Dr. Gifty Amugi, are concerning, given the country’s goal of vaccinating 20 million people.

“As a country, we’ve established a goal of vaccinating 20 million people. And right now, we’re only serving 2% of our eligible population, which isn’t good enough.”

Many individuals are hesitant to come for vaccinations, according to the Deputy Director of Public Health, because of various fears, falsehoods, and misconceptions that are being circulated and “sadly are being accepted as the reality.”

Some believe the vaccine will kill them in the future, while others claim it has something to do with religion. Others, meantime, live in communities that have yet to see the terrible impacts of Covid-19 in terms of death.

As a result, they do not believe vaccination is necessary.
“As a country, we haven’t had any serious illnesses or deaths linked to the vaccines.” In fact, we’re interested in all of the alleged adverse effects, so if you get vaccinated and notice any consequence, no matter how minor, you should report it to the clinic where you were vaccinated. Fill out the forms, and we’ll look into it…”
