It is not accurate that the government will be unable to pay salaries for the next three months.’ — Kumah, John

Dr. John Kumah, a Deputy Minister of Finance, has refuted the Speaker of Parliament’s claim that the government may be unable to meet its salary obligations in the coming three months.
Last Monday, the Speaker of Parliament revealed this information in parliament, citing his sources.
The Speaker, who made the announcement on the floor of Parliament, urged MPs to exhibit leadership in these trying times.

“This is not meant to dissuade the committee from carrying out its duties. The government may not be able to pay salaries if nothing is done in the next three months.”
“As a result, we must assume command. He stated, “We have a lot of stuff to do.”
His comments come amid labor unrest over better working conditions and growing living costs, even as the government battles to pass the contentious Electronic Transaction Levy, which it has hailed as a crucial solution to the country’s financial woes.
Mr. John Kumah, on the other hand, stated that it is not true that the government cannot pay salaries.
“This is not correct. Despite the fact that COVID-19 hit us hard and we were struggling as a country, we were able to pay all public employees on schedule. Workers were paid on time in January of this year, and we are hoping that they will be paid on time in February.”
