Ablakwa congratulates Akufo-Addo on taking a commercial flight to the Dubai Expo.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has expressed delight with President Akufo-choice Addo’s to fly to the Dubai Expo on a commercial airplane.

“According to our unimpeachable and flawless tracking, this is the first time in at least a year that President Akufo-Addo has gone out of the continent without using a lavish and sybaritic charter at great cost to the suffering Ghanaian taxpayer,” the MP wrote on Facebook.

Mr. Ablakwa had been a vocal opponent of President Akufo-use Addo’s of hired planes for international travel.

In 2021, he filed urgent questions demanding disclosure of the full cost of President Akufo-Addo’s foreign trips without the use of the official presidential jet.

“President Akufo-Addo, who has defiantly flown on ultra-luxurious chartered executive jets for all of his trips outside of Africa since May last year deserves some credit for finally listening to an outraged public and yielding to legitimate patriotic pressure from struggling Ghanaians reeling under an economy in shambles,” he said.

Mr. Ablakwas pointed out that flying commercial was even more cost-effective than flying the presidential plane, and that it “presents a more cost-effective alternative” that “may help remind Ghanaians that this is a president who once swore to preserve the public purse.”

Ghanaians’ pressure, according to the MP, played a role in the President’s new transportation arrangement.

“But, of course, the greatest credit must go to the overwhelming majority of Ghanaians who have been unshakable and steadfast in battling and resisting the president’s flagrant, abominable use of our taxpayers to fund his opulent delusions.”

I congratulate President Akufo-Addo on his decision to fly commercially to the Dubai Expo when he left Ghana yesterday.

We should be brave and objective to acknowledge our elected leaders’ remorseful actions when they finally show excellent judgment, even if it took a lot of effort from us.

This is the first time in at least a year that President Akufo-Addo has gone out of the continent without using a lavish and sybaritic charter at great cost to the suffering Ghanaian people, according to our unimpeachable and flawless surveillance.
