Dortmund confirmed on Monday that Germany defender Niklas Suele will join the club on a free transfer from Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich next season.
Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc said in a statement, “We are thrilled that we were able to sign a German national player in Niklas Suele and retain him for four years.”
Suele had already declared last month that he will depart Bayern when his contract expired at the end of the season after declining an extension.

Dortmund, who are nine points behind Bayern in the Bundesliga league, have made history by signing the imposing 26-year-old centre back.
Suele has 159 appearances for Bayern since joining them for €20 million from Hoffenheim in 2017.
He is expected to play an important role for Germany at the World Cup in Qatar, which begins in November.
