Ghana Police pursue culprits behind shooting episode in Awutu Senya East


The Ghana Police Service is on a manhunt for inhabitants of a dark 4X4 SUV who purportedly shot tenants of a silver-color Kia private cantina vehicle at the Steps to Christ polling station in the Awutu Senya East electorate in the Central area.

Two people in the Kia saloon car, with registration number GW 2375-20, supported discharge wounds because of the shooting incident.

One of the victims, who is a party agent for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), told Citi News he was in a vehicle returning from the centre with two other persons when they met some individuals in a Toyota Landcruiser who questioned them about their whereabouts.

The group then opened fire on them, wounding two of them in the process, according to reports.

In a statement, the police indicated that any allegations of impropriety will be investigated.

This same center was marred by an incident of violence during the voter registration exercise.

The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Mavis Hawa Koomson, fired a gun at the center after a purported skirmish between NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in the area.

At Kasoa in the Awutu Senya East constituency, the police are on a chase for occupants of a black 4×4 SUV who reportedly shot occupants of a silver-colored Kia private salon car with registration number GW 2375-20. The occupants who got injured were taken to the hospital and are responding to treatment.

Police are investigating any allegation of impropriety so far received.
