Celebrities In Prison Diaries: Jared Fogle

Entertainment

Even celebrities are guilty of breaking the law. Over the years, a number of celebrities have served time in prison, including comedian Tim Allen, domestic expert Martha Stewart, and actor Kiefer Sutherland. A large number of these celebrities have been charged with minor offenses such as DUI or financial fraud. They serve relatively short terms and are frequently (but not always) permitted to resume their lives. When it comes to people who serve their time and repent of their misdeeds, society may be quite forgiving.

Then there are superstars whose illegal actions are on a whole other level, requiring several years in prison. They’ve done acts so heinous that it’s nearly difficult for supporters to forgive them. The men and women on this list have committed sex crimes, traded large amounts of narcotics, and even murdered. Some people acknowledge breaking the law, while others defend their innocence. In any case, they’ll be locked up for a long time.

JARED FOGLE, A SUBWAY STAR, HAD INAPPROPRIATE RELATIONSHIPS WITH MINORS.

You’ve probably seen the Subway sandwich advertisements featuring a man named Jared Fogle. He weighed almost 400 pounds when he was just 20 years old. In 1998, he resolved to make a positive change in his life by exercising and eating two Subway sandwiches every day. According to the Los Angeles Times, he dropped more than half his body weight in less than a year. After that, he was featured in a Men’s Health article and quickly became a spokesperson for Subway, with his debut ad airing in 2000. He’d turned his weight loss into a source of money.

Things took a pretty bad turn a few years later.

According to NPR, he admitted to obtaining child pornography and having sex with children during a plea agreement with police in 2015. He had 400 films of unlawful pornography and was involved in interstate travel to pay for sex. Worse, according to prosecutors in the case against him, several of the films were given to him by the head of his organization. Fogle was given a sentence of more than 15 years in jail and will not be eligible for release until he has completed at least 13 of them. Fogle was also reportedly sentenced to pay $1.4 million in reparation to 14 kids he allegedly abused.
