Ronaldo will help Manchester United win titles, according to Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo have both played for Portugal and will now have the opportunity to team up at Old Trafford.
According to Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford will instill confidence and help Manchester United win titles.

Last season, Fernandes was United’s most important player, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists in the Premier League as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finished second in the league.

Ronaldo will now join his Portugal teammate, returning to Manchester after a 12-year hiatus, where he previously scored 118 goals in 292 games in all competitions.

In the absence of Ronaldo, Fernandes, who had a game-high five crucial passes and an assist against Azerbaijan, praised the quality and confidence the all-time top international scorer will bring.

“We know there will be a lot of excitement because everyone knows Cristiano and is extremely thrilled and confident to have him back,” Fernandes said after the game on RTP3.

“We [the players] share that trust because we know what he can provide.” Our aim, as well as Cristiano’s, is to win what there is to win, as I’ve previously spoken with him.

“Our objectives remain the same, and Cristiano gives us another point of reference to assist us get closer to them.”

Ronaldo may make his Premier League comeback as early as September 11 against Newcastle United, the only team against whom the 36-year-old scored a hat-trick before leaving Manchester United in 2009.

Despite the rumored rivalry, Liverpool striker Diogo Jota, who scored in a 3-0 win against Azerbaijan while also taking a team-high five shots, is looking forward to a tough Premier League season with Ronaldo back.

“Yes, it always adds value, and I believe this year has all the makings of another fantastic English championship,” Jota told RTP3.

“There were a couple of jokes while he [Ronaldo] was here, but nothing really memorable.”
