Otto Addo, the Black Stars Coach has admitted blame for the 3:0 defeat against the Brazilian national team, the Selecao, on Friday at Le Havre in France, saying he made mistakes with his selection.

The game saw brilliant performances from the Brazilian side in the first half, which got them three goals. Marquinhos scored the first goal in the eighth minute to put his team in the lead. The second goal came in the 28th minute when Tottenham’s Richarlison converted a goal-mouth struggle.

The Brazilian team continued to dominate the first half until the 40th minute when Neymar took a free kick and Richarlison headed it home, putting them three goals ahead of their Ghanaian counterparts.

In terms of goals, the second half was uneventful. The match ended with a score line of 3:0 in favor of the Brazilians.

Although many Ghanaian football lovers blamed the outcome on the abysmal performance of the players, the Coach thinks otherwise.

Otto Addo said in a post-match conference that he blames himself because maybe the system he played was wrong. He admitted questioning himself first before he looks at the boys. He said the lineup was good, but they have to work harder, especially, on the set pieces and close the lines, where there were too many gaps. He said he learnt a lot about the players, and his selection will depend on their performance in the next game.

Coach Otto Addo said the second half showed they can compete enough with the Brazilians and did not allow them many chances.

The next game of the Black Stars will be against Nicaragua on Tuesday in Spain.

The friendly encounters are in preparation for the Black Stars ahead of the Qatar World Cup 2022.
