According to ScoopGH.com, Milovan Rajevac is the frontrunner to succeed CK Akonnor as Black Stars coach.

The Ghana FA’s three-man committee, chaired by Vice President Mark Addo, called the 67-year-old on Monday night following their decision to split ways with Akonnor.

For the open position, the committee also approached former Zambia, Ivory Coast, and Morocco coach Hervé Renard, Aston Villa U-23 coach George Boateng, and Borussia Dortmund assistant Otto Addo.

George Boateng, whose work is thought to be admired by GFA President Kurt Okraku, has been offered the job of assistant. He declined the offer, stating that the top position is what he seeks.

According to sources, Boateng has agreed to serve as a scout for the squad instead when they compete in the next African Cup in January.

Otto Addo, who played for Ghana in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, approached CK Akonnor seeking information about the position. It is thought that the talk did not instill trust in his job stability, therefore he declined as well.

Renard’s stated current monthly compensation of $100,000 is a significant concern for the FA, according to our sources.

GFA investigations, however, found that he is currently paid $70,000 per month as the Saudi Arabia national team coach.

This sum remains hefty, but the FA looked prepared to pay provided the funds were made available by the government.

The FA calculated that they would require $2.4 million over a two-year contract period for all coaches contacted, an amount they cannot guarantee is available.

As a consequence, the football regulatory body has settled on Milovan, who guided Ghana to the 2010 AFCON final in Angola, losing 1-0 to Egypt, and to the World Cup quarterfinals in South Africa the following year.

Milo, as the Serbian is popularly called, commanded respect from officials and players alike, and the leadership believes a second appearance is required.

The Executive Committee will deliberate on their selection before making a statement.

He is likely to sign a two-year contract with a monthly salary of around $45,000.
