Ghanaian vaccination with Johnson & Johnson vaccinations in COVID-19 hotspots is set to end today, Friday, August 20, 2021.

The five-day drill took place in the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions and began on Monday, August 16, 2021. It targeted regions that officials claim are epicenters of disease.

A number of the vaccination clinics had a lot of people coming in.
The 177,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccinations are the first batch supplied to Ghana as part of the African Union’s African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) initiative.

The UK government has delivered another 249,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccinations to Ghana.
The immunizations were received at the Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday [August 18, 2021] by a Deputy Minister of Health, Tina Mensah, a Representative of the UK High Commission, Mr. John Whittle, and the UNICEF Representative, among other partners.
UNICEF said the donation is to “support the ongoing vaccination campaign”.

The vaccines were then brought to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where they were stored and used.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has stated that priority will be given to those who received the AstraZeneca vaccination for the first time in March 2021 and have yet to receive their second dose.
