The vigilance of the City Guards of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) resulted in the arrest of two persons accused of being part of a syndicate involved in the trade of unwholesome meat in the city.

They included a woman named Abiba and her accomplice, Kwadwo Asare, who were apprehended and handed over to the Nhyiaeso-Ridge Police.

Ms. Henrietta A. K. Aboagye, Public Relations Officer (PRO), KMA, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi that Abiba was picked up at the Adankwame Station near the Race Course.

This was after she had unloaded some cartons of unwholesome chicken destined for Asuofia in the Ashanti Region.

Following her detention, the lady took the City Guards to her suppliers in the Asafo Market, where Asare was also caught, according to the PRO.

In total, 15 boxes of tainted chicken were confiscated from the perpetrators.
