The Vice President, Alhahi Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has joined the fray of those who have taken to Chiding the former President John Mahama over his ‘do or die’ comment about the 2024 General Elections.

He was speaking at the maiden edition of the Ghana Construction Industry Excellence Awards in Accra on Friday, 10th September, 2021.

In consoling those who were not awarded he hilariously told them to consider the awards as not a ‘do or die’ affair, since this is not the end of the road, and they may be considered in subsequent awards.

To clearly show his subject of the sarcasm, he further stated that if you run to the Supreme Court to challenge elections results and you do not have pink sheets, then your case will die.

The crowd was swept off their feet and responded to the humor by laughing uncontrollably.

Former President John Mahama had made the ‘do or die’ comment on Akina FM at Techiman in reference to the 2024 General Elections. He said the NPP had packed the security services with thugs and vigilante group members who terrorized voters at the polling stations.

He therefore noted that his party the NDC was leaving no stone unturned at the polling stations since that is where elections are won or lost.

The ‘do or die’ comment has received massive backlash from various fronts but H. E. John Mahama had explained that his comment was an idiomatic expression and did not mean what people have misconstrued it for.
