Former Bishop Of Lighthouse Church Arraigned Before Court For Stealing

Rev. Emmanuel Oko Mensah, a former Bishop of the Lighthouse Chapel International, has been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court charged with stealing a Hyundai Elantra salon car.

Chief Inspector Simon Apiosornu stood in for Assistant Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Nyamekye to lead prosecution and told the Court presided over by Her Lordship Evelyn Asamoah that the accused person failed to hand over the said vehicle when he resigned from the church. When the matter was reported to the police, the vehicle was impounded and the accused person was arrested for it. The vehicle, which is valued at $20,00.00, is currently in the custody of the police.

Rev. Oko Mensah pleaded not guilty to the charge. His lawyer, Kofi Bentil prayed the Court to grant a self-cognisance bail for his client since he was not flight risky. He argued that his client had his own place of abode and pastors his own church now. Besides, he has instituted a civil action against his former church and employer in a case that bothers on SSNIT payments. He will therefore be available to prove his innocence to the Court.

The Court granted him bail in the sum of GHC150,000.00 with two sureties to be satisfied, and to reappear on 12th October, 2021.

Rev. Oko Mensah is one of the six former pastors of Lighthouse Chapel International who are battling their former employers over various misunderstandings.
