A 40-year-old man is on the run after reportedly murdering his pregnant 30-year-old wife at Nyankyerenease in the Ashanti region’s Kumasi city.

The defendant, Kwame Maxwell, reportedly stabbed his wife, Betty, after she suspected him of cheating on her.

According to their landlady, the event occurred early Saturday morning after she heard a loud cry for assistance from the deceased’s chamber.

She said she went to the scene and observed the deceased’s spouse, who was covered in blood and fleeing out of the room.

“Just as I was drifting asleep, I heard someone yell ‘he’s murdering me,’ and that was the end of it.” I was scared and awoke when I didn’t hear any more cries. My son had also awoken. The wail was eventually identified as coming from the deceased’s chamber. So we exited, and I stood in front of the room’s door, while my son stood in front of a different door.”

“Because the man had turned out all the lights in the room, it was difficult to see what was going on.” When the man emerged, we noticed bloodstains on his hands. The guy had stabbed his wife, my son said. So I noticed him wiping the bloodstains on his hand with his wife’s nightgown. He then walked out of the room.

I then came back to check on the wife. That was when my son started screaming that the man had killed the wife,” narrated the Landlady, Ama Nyarko.

The Landlady is thus appealing to the police to ensure the suspect is arrested and dealt with according to the law.

“What I want is for the police to fish out Maxwell wherever he may be,” Ama Nyarko added.

Meanwhile, the police in the area have begun investigations into the incident.
