The NDC has condemned the alleged arrest and assault on two journalists by National Security Operatives. It said the attack on Mr Caleb Kudah and the harassment of Mrs Zoe Abu-Baidoo Addo showed a culture of impunity under the Akufo-Addo administration. The largest opposition party urged Ghanaians not to keep quiet about happenings in the country. The NDC also called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufa Addo to perform his duties by protecting and promoting the rights and welfare of Ghanaians. The party said keeping quiet would only embolden such people to continue to defile the rights and freedoms of people in this country.

It called on the President to do the work for which he was elected to do and with full respect for the rights of the Ghanaian people. The two journalists are from Accra based Citi Fm/CitiTV and the attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday. The suspects have been released on bail pending further enquiries by the National Security Operations Centre. They are currently being questioned by the NSC and the Ghana Police Service Department. Mr Kudah said he entered the precincts of the Ministry of National Security to take photos of some abandoned cars.

He said as he was leaving the place after taking the photos, he was confronted by an official. After the confrontation, he alleged he was arrested and manhandled by both uniformed policemen and plain-clothes officials of the ministry. Many groups, including OccupyGhana, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and Media Foundation for West Africa, have condemned the alleged action by the National Security operatives. The ministry has said it had initiated investigations into the alleged assault of the two journalists.
