According to the Ghana Police Service, the scene observed on Oxford Street in Accra on Tuesday, which many have characterized as terrible, was part of a clandestine operation.

The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), according to the Service, attacked the area based on intelligence regarding certain suspected offenders.

The development startled passers-by and business owners in the neighborhood, while others stepped back and watched the action unfold.

KFC Ghana has already responded to the situation, stating that all of its employees are safe.

The restaurant reported in a tweet on Wednesday evening that a “alleged suspect entered the restaurant, prompting the police to be summoned.”
